THE CLUB WILL BE NICKNAMED “THE MONARCHS”, WITH A NEW CREST
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Friday, Springfield Athletic Club announced a new brand for their club heading into the 2023 USL League Two season.
The crest features a depiction of a monarch butterfly – a famous migrating insect and a designated symbol of the state of Illinois.
“The rebranding will be remembered as one of the most exciting days in our club’s history,” Anthony Lambert, Springfield United ASC co-owner, said. “I am thrilled with the outcome, and optimistic that our fans and supporters will be, as well.”
The club says that this brand change is the next step in the club’s evolution – like the evolution of a caterpillar to a butterfly.
Springfield ASC is preparing for its second season in USL League Two, where it will compete in the Heartland Division alongside former champion Des Moines Menace and expansion side St. Charles FC.
